Weddings & Receptions

The owner of Moorpark House has, for most of his life, been a Londoner and knows the very high cost of weddings there and in the Home Counties and this probably applies to many locations in Europe and Worldwide. Why not save thousands of pounds by having your wedding in Scotland at Moorpark House and in the process have a day that is extra special and extra specially memorable?

First and foremost you will be thinking travel – how difficult?, how much will it cost?? Moorpark House is approximately midway between Glasgow International and Glasgow Prestwick Airports both served by the economy carriers Ryanair and Easyjet as well as by a number of other international airlines.

Moorpark House has 12 ensuite double rooms but has an arrangement with the 123 room 4 star Menzies Hotel in Irvine – 15 minutes from Prestwick and 30 minutes from Glasgow International – where rooms are only £68 per night (2014 price). Guests arriving in small numbers would be obliged to hire taxis to make the journey from the airport to the hotel but by arriving in numbers on the same flight Moorpark would be able to negotiate a discounted rate for a coach facility.

Having come to terms with the travel arrangements you will be thinking of how it can all be organised. This is where Jackie, our wedding coordinator, comes in and stars. One has only to read the many reviews on Tripadvisor to recognise Jackie’s unique qualities. In short she will organise everything and all the minutiae for you to make it all go smoothly.

Add to that the “Extras” – for which please refer to the PACKAGES section – all negotiated at incredibly low prices and you have before you a very viable and attractive “destination” wedding.

Kilbirnie has one of the oldest working churches in Scotland – the Auld Kirk – which has its own website. Why not, as a bride, contemplate a wedding where you prepare at Moorpark, go to the Auld Kirk in an open horse drawn carriage – for which please look at the website of the Kilbirnie based Prestige Carriages whose website has a video of a wedding at Moorpark – marry in the Kirk, return with your new husband in the same carriage followed by the reception and evening party at Moorpark??

For those coming from afar what has proved to be hugely enjoyable and relaxing before the “big day” is the taking of all rooms at Moorpark House on the eve of the wedding at a discounted rate with a simple evening meal and a chance to unwind.

For more details on this it is best to speak to Jackie.

Most couples opt for a Summer wedding thinking the weather will be favourable and frequently end up being disappointed whereas those who plan a Winter wedding frequently end up being pleasantly surprised. Think also of the much cheaper rates, the real log fires and candlelit dining room with candles which look so much warmer on dark nights compared to light summer evenings. Just a thought!

Ceremonies at Moorpark House

Moorpark House has three of its rooms licensed as venues for religious and civil ceremonies the specific areas being the Marble Room (maximum capacity 80), the Knox Room (maximum capacity 140) the Conservatory overlooking the West Garden, Temple and Fountain (maximum capacity 120)and the gardens themselves. Humanist ceremonies are not restricted by license considerations and may take place anywhere within the building or its grounds.

The Marble Room is arguably one of the most perfect locations for any wedding venue in which to hold your religious, civil humanist or Celtic wedding ceremony. The soft natural lighting from its splendid bay windows mirrors the calm serenity of the marble pillars, ornate ceilings and fine wood carving to enhance the solemnity of this important and most sincere occasion. As a location for a Scottish wedding ceremony it is in a class of its own and will put heartfelt meaning to your mutual vows. Although no religious content whatsoever is allowed in a civil ceremony it can be more romantic and leisurely than in a registrar’s office and it can be as formal or casual as you would wish. All ministers of whatever faith are happy to perform ceremonies at licensed venues. Hire one of the most unique wedding venues Scotland has to offer.

The elegance and stylish sophistication of Moorpark House makes the perfect backdrop for those seeking a religious wedding in timeless surroundings whilst adding suitable solemnity to the most important day in the lives of a couple committing to a religious ceremony. The beautiful hotel and grounds provide a tranquil setting in which to celebrate their commitment to one another, taking their vows before the minister of their particular faith and confirming their religious beliefs through the sanctity of marriage. A Humanist wedding is “dignified, caring and totally personal”. A Humanist wedding can take place anywhere “safe and dignified” and consequently Moorpark House is an ideal venue. However the ceremony must be conducted by a Celebrant of the Humanist Society of Scotland who has been authorised by the Registrar General for Scotland.

Approximately 85% of all wedding receptions held at Moorpark House are where the couple have also married at the hotel. Many come for their initial show round having made a preliminary decision to have the ceremony elsewhere – perhaps at a local church – but invariably they are swayed by practicalities and the ambience of Moorpark House.

The many commendations in the Testimonials section confirm the Hotel’s wedding coordinator, Jackie Dunbar, is a truly caring and patient professional. Someone for whom nothing is too much trouble to help ensure you enjoy our 4 star exclusivity to the full and have the perfect wedding day.
It has been said that a professional wedding planner goes that extra mile to personally see arrangements exceed expectations. Apart from having all the personal qualities that a wedding planner should have Jackie quite simply has the experience to make your wedding a very special day and in reality no more need be said because the many testimonials speak for themselves.

We are the wedding venue Scotland looks up to. The grand style of a castle wedding venue in Scotland with modern amenities yet close to Glasgow. Our venue is totally exclusive and sets the standard for any Ayrshire wedding venue at any package price. With the privacy, intimacy and exclusivity very few Glasgow wedding venues can provide we have quite possibly the most luxurious accommodation of even the most expensive of castle wedding venues in Scotland.
